cant figure the problem out

i have what i beileve to be a bad censor it clicks and the dash light goes from cruise control and check engine it flickers back and forth almost every two seconds and i cant get it to throw codes to tell me what is wrong it is a 91 skylark with a 2.5 any suggestions?
