headlight problems

I have a 1993 Acura Legend that runs great. The only problem is that the headlights shut off at random times (usually when I need them most). At times, I can flip the light switch on and off a few times and they will come right back on. Sometimes, the lights turn off when I switch from dim to brights, yet other times they just turn off on their own. Lately, the lights have been turning off and I haven't been able to get them back on for minutes, if not hours. The problem has been diagnosed as a faulty light switch, however that has been replaced twice, including just 4 months ago. The problem is as bad as its been right now and it's a pain because I just don't dare to drive the car at night. Anyone with similar problems or ideas?

you've replaced the switch....and when it actually work...the bulbs work. if both headlamps go turn off when this happens...i would suspect a loose connector, wire, or bad ground. if you've replaced the switch yourself previously...then you should be familiar w/ taken it apart again to test the connector. keep the connector connected to the switch and turn on the lights. now try wiggling wires...and see if it causes the lights to shut off. look for a bad ground...not sure exactly where they are located for legends. i would start looking around the headlamps. if both of those test checked out...i'de check for bad wiring from switch to lights. if you have a repair manual...this would probably help in id'ing wires and grounds. hope this helps & good luck.
