First, yes I looked on google image. :p
Well I did it. I also lost my common sense and got from ebay a Tamiya 1/12 Caterham Seven JPE.
I over-bided a guy by only 0.01$us !! I got it for 170.01$us and a very low shipping (17$), which I think, is an awesome deal.
Well I would like to get some reference pictures of the JPE edition (different engine and few other details that aren't like the normal version.
Also, if you know someone that made it, I would be pleased to see the result (only one member have picture on this forum. don't try the search, I already did)
Thanks, and don't tell my girl friend about this purchase

i couldn't find any pics of the engine in the car.
but i found some very average ones of the same kind of engine, in other cars.
it is a "Vauxhaul 2.0 16 valve" engine

thanks for pictures. I think it will be hard to find good reference pictures for it. I know the JPE edition use Carbon Fiber, but I'm not sure where :D

I'll post pictures of mine soon, after the weather clears up so I can shoot it.
One of mine will also be on display at TamiyaCon in a few weeks, before Mr. Tamiya takes it home for his collection... - Mark

Great Article. I was ready to buy it before I saw the price. 10GBP for a PDF file !! common. I won't pay 20$ for a single article. (sad thing is all others are 5GBP and less, which is more acceptable) At this price, they should at last print them for you
If someone, that will built a Caterham in near future, want to split the price of this article with me, let me know.
Sadly, I can't find Part 1 and 2, and can'T see anything on those small pictures.

incredible :D
One of the bigest question. Did people Paint the body ? From many pic, the yellow look too fluorecent. Which Yellow did everyone use ?
Mark, if you can give some explaination of your kit (box stock ? scratch built ? what's added etc) I would really apreciate.
I should get mine by the end of the week or next week

Thanks for posting that Mark, saved me some time.
Yes, I painted the body on both of the JPEs I built (or should I say finished, still have one in the works...). I stripped the metal parts first with carburetor cleaner. The plastic parts were treated like regular parts, cleaned up and primed before painting.
The first one, pictured above, is done with Floquil lacquer, it was all I could find back when I did it and is not a friendly paint for large parts, especially when you want them shiny.
The second one was done with Pactra R/C car paint, better to work with, but still not the easiest paint to use. I'll shoot and post it later.
The color it comes pre-painted in does not look incorrect, but there is no touch up paint to match it and the finish left something to be desired.
Neither one is box stock by any means. Lots of scratchbuilt & machined parts, custom decals, wiring and plumbing, etc. There is an article about this one in Model Cars Magazine (October 2002), it's on the cover too... - Mark

Vric, to answer the questions you sent me, I used wire I got from all over, whenever I find small or any good wire, (old electrical equipment and telephones are a good place to look), I grab it and keep it until a project comes along that can use it on. I always have my eyes open for fine wires.
The lettering on the hoses and wires are decals I custom made, (I made just about all the decals for my Sevens)... - Mark

I have some reference photos of Caterhams with the Vauxhall engine.
The engine is actually Opel/Vauxhall engine called C20XE and I have "nice" reference material on the engine, as I have 2 of them in real life on my 1:1 cars. I painted the engine on my Caterham model with the real colours of the engine, not the JPE colours, as I wanted it to look more accurate to the real engine. I also have some reference photos with the engine in the original colours (silver/red instead of black/yellow).
