01 WS6 (Me) versus 2nd generation Eclipse GSX

I just wanted to cruise, so I went down Pennsylvania Avenue hoping to get onto the 210 freeway. I get into the left hand turn lane and wait for the light to change, when out of nowhere a 93-99 ish Eclipse GSX pulls up beside me and revs his engine, making a loud whooshing noise (Obviously a blow off valve). He continues to go straight on Pennsylvania. I had to decide whether or not to merge on to the freeway or race this guy. I'm really hesitant at this point because the Montrose area is filled with cops (Glendale Police Dept.). I decided what the heck, got out of the turn lane, and followed in pursuit.

He's held up at a stoplight, and apparently he has another car following suit (A BMW 328i). There's some kids in the back seat saying something to the effect of, "You wanna race". I'm not gonna waste my time on the bimmer, so I ignore the dudes in that car. I'm there for one reason, and one reason alone, and that's to smoke the Eclipse. The driver has passengers in his car. It's a two lane street with him in front of me. I let him go into the right lane. I hear him floor it (His car was loud, and I could hear the blow off valve practically blowing out my ear). I mash the gas, and my car just flat out pulls. That is until I hit that pothole in the road :disappoin My car hops, as it hops, I grab second, and pass this guy like he was parked. I see his passenger as i'm passing him. Funny how a race that takes soo little time let's you gauge people's reactions. I decided not to grab 3rd, as it's obvious he's short alot of ponies on me. I pull up alongside him, ALL of his passengers are dead silent :evillol: I think they were surprised I pulled him and blew past him so easily. I told him that he should run me from a dig, but not within that area. He doesn't listen to me and says, "I'll honk 3 times and you go". I told him no, this area is filled with cops, but apparently he doesn't hear me, and he gets on it. I don't bite, as this area is filled with cops (Besides I already stomped him once). He makes a quick right down a street with his buddies in the bimmer behind him. I think they knew who won, because they totally avoided eye contact. I'll take it as a win :D

oh shoot, i dont want to make this thread go into Import vs Domestic, but the DSM (90-99 mitsu eclipse) are pretty fast. The one you messed with was probably stock and obviously as you told it, the Eclipse has alot of people in it. The driver in that eclipse probably sucked too. If it was a better road with a better driver and without those people in the car, you would have been really impressed for what a 4 banger turbo can do to your V8 muscle car.

Eh, stock for stock, a WS6 would anhiliate a GS-T, GSX, or TSi.

And stock for stock, even with an excellent driver in the GSX, it really would be no competition for a WS-6. Mid 13s 1/4 mile >15s 1/4 mile.

lol if the kid in the eclipse was gutted had some basic bolt ons and raced on a perfect road he would still have gotten his ass handed to him.

First off I use to own a 2003 Evo (Which had the 4g63 engine in it). If the roads were perfect, it would've gotten alot uglier for him. I wouldn't have hit a pothole then. His car had a few bolt ons that were readily noticeable (From the blow off valve to the exhaust). I wasn't going to ask him to pop the hood, so that I could inspect what type of turbo he had. My car pumps out 325 horsepower stock, and it has a few mods. Stock for stock my car runs over a second and a half faster 1/4 mile wise, with equal drivers. That's an ass raping, no matter what way you look at it. I do have respect for Eclipses, but running an LS1 from a roll isn't a good idea in an AWD car, due to parasitic drivetrain losses.

one question though, u said 93-99 eclipse. the 2g (the nice lookin one) is 95-99. So did It look like the one in my sig? (95-99) or was it like an older wedge type car. Just curious if you raced a 2g or a 1g

Lol, i just put on the Mopar BOV on meh Srt-4, on saturday. Took me 4 hours due to techinical difficulties, thats another story. It def scares the ricers a lil when you pull up next to em and blow off a few times :) .

You can back it up though. There are some 'ricers' around here that have an insane sounding BOV, and they are SLOW. But of course, they think they are fast because of the loud BOV. Losers.

Remember, if anybody can make their BOV sound-off loud while stopped, or while on a slow-roll, that means their turbo isn't big enough.

Have you ever heard a single-turbo Supra do this?

Big-HP turbos can't be spooled enough using a quick rev.

Damn carnutt, droppin' spme knowledge on us. I never thought of that! I always wondered why I never was able to here my BOV even when I rev my car up..... Honestly, I can't even here the damn thing when I'm driving/ racing or whatever. I think it's becuase my wastegate & my exhaust drown it out.....

the hks ssqv was fun on my auto probe, that shit was pretty loud, but at idle i had to rev it to 4k to start making sound. a bov in my opinion doenst sound as mean as a tubo spooling, like a supra spooling a huge t-88, all you hear is turbo wine and bearly any blow off..

not to mention the dsm'er was running rich if he was venting. But then again mine is loud as shit and I still recirculate it. It's almost as loud as my buddies RFL (vented) on my friend's WRX. Hell though, I like the sound ;)

but to all you pps out there posting that have no clue about awd dsm's... go study up on 1/4 times. gsx with 2g in mods will be running 12's easy.

we know hte abilities of a AWD DSM. which is exactly why we're saying that one was hardly modded and was still running the stock T25. bottomline, that DSM got owned.

i've never heard of the ws6. i had to go read about it on ws6.com! i drive a gsx. with a 320hp stock v8 there is just no chance of a mildly built DSM beating a beast like that!

Ooh I forgot to mention, my car isn't totally stock either. It has the following mods: whisper lid, lower control arms, panhard rod, slp underdrive pulleys, and a 3' thunderracing catback exhaust.

Nope... The WS6 package adds 20 horsepower. Mine's an 01, so it came with the Z06 intake manifold (01-02 models came with this). In 2001 the car came with 325 horsepower for the WS6 (310 for the regular Trans Am). The kit consists of a power steering cooler, suspension mods, a functional ram air hood, and a free flowing exhaust system.

A WS.6 was made in limited production runs. Thus, they are more expensive. There were like 5007 of them built in 1999. Mine is #1747.

Im sorry but even though the ws6 is a beast compared to my srt4 i stilll wouldn't mind racing him just to see the damage he can cause me (it be shocking if i beat one but i doubt it) :icon16:

i raced a WS6 one time. . .wasnt pretty. But the WS6 owner was impressed with my car and asked me to pull over so he could see the blower, that made me feel cool!!

My car really isn't all that fast. It runs somewhere in the 13 sec. area. The problem with these cars are that they are heavy. My car weighs over 3500 pounds. Luckily, like all LS1's, the car is underrated horsepower wise though.
As far as how expensive the car is, I got it used for $20K w/ 39K miles on it. I don't think that was too expensive.

got my 99 gsx for 10k half the cost, not trying to start an argument, just standing up for my car heh

3 years ago, I got mine for $21,300. It is a 1999, and had 9,949 miles.

And I beat a WS.6 today. Had a small F-Body cruise. Good times.

do some research on your "ricer" cars and then come back and post. I have little to no respect for stock 17 second cars that ppl try to make go fast.. dump lots of money and it does what? 14's? But most the ppl posting here and in this thread that have a foreign car have car's coming stock in at least the 14's. The foreign owner ppl I have seen posting in this thread have srt-4's or evo's + one dude with his gsx. The srt4 and evo come stock running 13's. A gsx with 2k in modes can run 12's. I like mustang's and TA's for american cars and you wont see me blantantly bashing them.. ( maybe just a lil if they just dropped a lot of money when they couuld have gotten a evo.... ) but I still prefer my Evo or a modded gsx to a mustang gt or a TA. I get more bang for the buck with my car.. in my eyes.. and on paper... sooo...... sshh.

And Evo, an SRT-4, an STi, even just a Civic are not ricer cars until certain owners get their hands on them.
