Ive got the Kei Office D1 S15 Silvia and it comes with gold plated rims, but the box has gunmetal gray rims pictured which i would prefer. I've checked the FAQ's but couldn't find anything. How do you remove that gold plating or can it just be primed over??? If it can be removed, how long will it approximatly take and are there any side effects?

91% Rubbing Alcohol will remove the hold and make them chrome. I think best off will remove the chrome, i cant remember.

If the gold plating is anything like the regular chrome then a quick soak in household bleach will strip the chrome off in a few minutes.

soak them in '409' overnight, I hear thats how to get regular chrome off, so I would guess gold chrome is identical.

Hey,
Wesley's bleach white oven cleaner seems to work best for me. Be sure to wear gloves when handling the stuff tho. And make sure to clean them off thouroly after the chrome is off(takes about a half an hour for the chrome to come off).

Hi,
I just stripped a set of Tamiya R34 Skyline Chrome wheels in Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner. After 10 minutes all chrome was gone, and I was just left with the plastic. Worked a treat.
