1989 Passenger Door Will Not Open From Outside

My 89 MPV Passenger door only opens from the inside, I am not able to open the door with the outside handle.

How might I go about repairing this?

Have the same problem on a 1997. Did your find a way to fix it?

I never found out how to repair it.
