Cruising down the road at about 60-65 mph. my car started to slow down (slight hill) so i put my foot into it and it was still slowing down.( sounded as if I had put the car in 2nd gear and let off of the gas) Then I let off of the gas. The car died, so I coasted to a stop and tried to start it. The car sounded as if it was getting no fuel or fire. All of the ignition is new and am getting nice hot, blue spark and the plugs are good. So I replaced the fuel filter and Im getting fuel at the fuel rail.
Car still cranks and cranks, but it does make a popping sound. I tried putting my foot down to the floor and starting it and all it does is backfire thru the throttle body and make a nice flame. so I gave up for a couple days and amtrying to figure it out again.
any help would be very much appreciated!

Sounds like injector seals have failed and there is fuel loading the cylinders. Be careful of those backfires. They'll overpressure the exhaust and open seams; or worse screw up the cat converter. Check the air intake for blockages too.

sounds like your timing jumped, if fire is comming out your throttle body then your intake valves are opening while your pistons are firing, definetly timing.

wut could have caused it to jump time??? I just replace the timing chain, gears, and tensioner. I torqued everything to specs.

guess what caused it... the key that keeps the cam gear from spinning on the camshaft broke off!
