would the transmission housing on 88-94 style chev 5spd be the same as the housing on a 88-94 style 3spd w/b.low?

If you are asking about the transmission to motor bolt pattern- it is the same.

no, i mean the piece that bolts on to the transmission and also bolts to the engine. i call them bell housings wether its correct or not. well i have a 4spd standard tranny (3spd w/bull low) in a 90 chev, but my housing has a hole in it and is kinda crusty. the older type 4spds had a manual clutch, therefore a hole in the housing. i need another housing, just wondering what else if anything will fit.

I think that the 5-speed bellhousing was integral with the transmission for the heavy duty 5-speed. Your best bet is probably to get a used or new bellhousing that is the same as yours-- The older manual bellhousings have no provision for your hydraulic clutch linkages and slave cylinder.

new bellhousings for these are expensive new, and almost impossible to find second hand. just thought that maybe the easier to find 5 spd bell housing might have been the same. thanks
