acceleraation problem

I have an '88 c-1500 with a tbi350 in it that only has a little over 50,000 miles. I have replaced the plugs, wires, exhaust, and catalytic converter but I still have trouble under hard acceleration. It almost dies when it is cold but when warm it just hesitates and stalls. Anybody have any other ideas what the problem could be? :2cents:

I had a similar problem with mine, try replacing the fuel filter, cause it's the cheapest, if that doesn't work, check your fuel pressure, make sure you have good airflow, here's an easy way to see if it's a fuel problem, if it starts sputtering and tries to stall, let it idle for a min, while you take off the air cleaner top, hold the throttle wide open, and when it starts to die out, spray some carb cleaner down into the throttle body, if it revs up higher, at least you know its a fuel problem (filter, pump, strainer, or pressure regulator) hope this helps

Make sure the can of carb cleaner says "extreemly flamable", not just "flamable". The engine won't run off the flamable stuff, that set me back about a day once.

i had the same problem, and i tore everything apart. chenged all of my sensors, and my fuel filter and throttle body. it was my fuel pump.

fuel pressure is a good place to start if that checks out hook up a scan tool and check the important sensors. tps(throttle position sensor) & ect(engine coolant temp) & oxygen sensors have the greatest effects on drivability. also make sure the timing is correct and the egr isn't stuck open.

I would start with the throttle body gasket. They are notorious for breaking down causing an air leak at the base of the TB causing hesatation till the motor is warm because when cold there is a gap and after it warms up the aluminum intake and the TB expand enough to seal the leak. I had a K1500 full size jimmy with the 350 TBI in it and when it was doing exactally what you described only a little worse , there was only a piece about 2" left of the ENTIRE gasket. Worth a look , cheap enough to just buy a new gasket and replace either way.

It only sputters out when in drive. If it is parked the engine runs perfect, but if I drive it down the road it will stall then slowly climb in rpms. I am sending it back to the tranny shop for a shifting problem.

Mine idled great too , only acted up under load during acceleration..............
