Alternator or other problem?

Ok of the bearings in alternator went bad and were creating some drag would i notice a change in acceleration? Because its making a sound like there shot and the pulley feels warmer than the others after running it. But my car tacks out on the boost gauge but isnt pulling as hard any more. What could be up? Ive heard a few people say boost leak. How can I find out if its actually leaking without going through every single hose?

make this tester, that will tell you if you have boost leaks. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

If your boost gauge pegs out, but there's no acceleration then I think it is most likely a boost leak. Although an alternator could pull your engine down alot. :2cents:

I hope thats what it is, But doesnt there have to be boost for the gauge to tach out?

If you are using the stock boost gauge, your boost is not measured, it is computed. The computer only sees airflow witch it reads as boost. Alot of airflow is read as a lot of boost. I don't know if the same thing applies to aftermarket gauges. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
