worn out muffler - replace with ...?

well my exhaust has gone from sounding surprisingly good with a small hole, to recently sounding like crap. i've had enough of it, and i was wondering if there are mufflers that can just replace the stock one, and how much they would be. i wouldnt mind getting something with some performance benefits too.

and money is a big issue, after getting my cv boots done im finally getting my sub enclosure made along with a few other things, so i dont have too much to spare on this.

i wouldnt mind losing my old exhaust tips too cuz i have the stock si ones with the 2 little pipes, and they're rusted out and arent parallel to eachother, so they dont exactly look good.

i really cant afford a catback system, but i was thinking of possibly the ansa axleback on ebay cuz then i'd have a new muffler, stock pipe size, and a nicer tip. i just wish it would say the size of the tip, i dont want anything bigger than 3", and i dont want it to sound like shit either.

anyway, your thoughts?

loud exhaust is crap.

I think for your purposes, an axle back would work nicely.

ok i gotcha, i didnt know if you were being sarcastic or something.

my exhaust isnt too loud right now, it just sounds crappy, rather than a steady awesome tone, it's mixed with a rough 'windy' sound cuz the gases arent all getting out the tail pipes, but out the hole too....

are there just replacement performance mufflers? not the big cans, but one to replace the stock one?

also, how much would just a stock replacement muffler cost, including the tail pipe(s)?

this is my main concern, cuz if the ansa axleback is only slightly more expensive, i'd rather get it than a stock one again.

do you know how to weld?

I just replaced all my stock exhaust with 2.5 header back so I pretty much have my entire stock exhaust that I would have for dirt cheap + whatever shipping is. the muffler is practicaly new.

just get a new muffler bearing. Go to nappa and ask them.
