Does anyone know how to remove the backseat out of a 2 Door 1995 grand am SE? My back seat is soaking wet and i would like to take it out to inspect the problem. Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.

Are you refeering to the top, or bottom piece?

For the bottom, If it's like my 01, it's very simple. Get in the backseat, and push really hard on the front edge of the seat bottom, and the push slightly up. You should hear a click as the fasteners release, and then you should be able to rock it up and out of the catches.

For the seat back, if it's like my 01, you need to remove the seat bottom first. Then you will need to remove the trim on either side. Then you will need to feel down between the two seat halves (it will be very tight to get your hand in there). You will feel a hook sort of deal that feels spring loaded. You need to rock it back far, and it will release the bar that runs through the seats that they pivot on. You will be able to pull the seat back out, while holding back the hook thing.

Good luck

If I'm not mistaken, the back seat bottom has 2 bolts holding in the front part of the seat. They should be about mid point of each passanger foot well. You will need socket and you have to push down on the carpet once you locate them. Un-bolt the seat and lift the front up and the rear bart should slid out toward the front seats, After the bottom is removed you will see 2 more bolts for the seat back remove the bolts and slide the seat back up toward the roof and it will slid out of the holes that the seat back top clips.

That should do it if I remember correctly. It has been a long time since I have removed the rear seat of my 96 GAGT.

Please let me know if my memory is still working!

Hoags, ayep, two bolts each piece. Have to remove the seat cushion first to get to bolts for the seat back next. The seatback is also attached to car body by two sort of hanger clips, lift and pull to disengage them.
