3000 GT verses DSM

I own a 91 Eagle Talon AWD TSI. I would like to hear some opinions from people who have either owned both or have extensive seat time in both. I'm was thinking about getting a 3000 GT in the near future and would like some info before making my decision. I'm mostly concerned about handling, ease of modding and possible problems to look for on the 3000 GT. I'm fairly well educated on all aspects of DSM's but have no experience in the 3000 GT. Is it worth the extra dough to drive the GT?

Handling is much more important to me than all out speed.

if handling is more important to you than speed and style...then stick with your dsm, fact is the dsm handles better b/c its lighter. The 3kgt does handle well, but unless you make some serious weight reductions, the DSM will always be able to handle better when equally modded.

DSM is cheaper $$$ in every aspect
It has a much larger aftermarket

A vr4 is an awesome car, it can be in the 12s for a few hundred, 11s for a few grand (average $$$ estimates), but 10s gets a bit more expensive, and so far none that I'm aware of have hit 9s (hopefully soon!)
I know you said that isn't your main objective..but you asked about modding.
Handling will probably go hands down to the DSM, its lighter and smaller and as said before has a larger aftermarket.

gsx is a better handler. gst has a higher top end than the gsx but. ive seen gsx's wiht only $3500 and less worth of performance mods that pushed its hp to 450+ on stock internals. And as for the 3000gt, it is fast but is a pain in the ass (money) if you want to upgrade. too many valves for me to take care of.

so light weight is the only thing, making the dsm better handler

well the slalom isnt as high as the vr4, niether is the skidpad, niether is the breaking. though handling is more than just these mere tests and numbers, they do serve a purpose.

the vr4 skidpad is a 90g and the breaking 124ft and the slalom 64. seems the vr4 wins all tests concerning handling

not trying to correct anyone here, but its seems some dont know the handling abilities of the vr4. i have had a fare share of driving a talon tsi awd and also an eclipse gsx. and both are nice handlers. but in stock form, i personally dont think it would be that easy to out handle a vr4.

Yeah thats true i've always just assumed the DSM would handle better than a 3S...it's possible that they don't I guess....wider car, wider tires, 4ws...I doubt it, but now i'm wondering.

I guess there's no reason to get rid of the old Talonstein.. Takes a beating like no other car I've had.
