I use 10W-30 on my 94 vtec lude. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic. I could be wrong, but I don't think switching to synthetic would be bad, just because of high miles. As long as you stick with it once you go to it. You're not supposed to switch back after you put in synthetic.

I recommend synthetic. It stands up to heat better and last longer. I use Castrol GTX high mileage on my 110,000mi civic. i would use Mobil 1 but im a cheap bastard. i use 10w30.

I would also recommend synthetic oil BUT.....
you should use a synthetic BLEND for this oil change and for you next change go FULL synthetic. from what i have heard the diffrence is like putting oil and water together.
but once you switch over it should withstand diffrent temps. better. you also won't need to change it as often.

10w-30 is good in warm weather, but when it drops below 20 degrees you need something w-20. If your car uses any oil, the syn. can get expensive at $4/5 bucks a-quart.
