2000 Ss Security Light Problem

I have a 2000 Monte SS the problem I am having is that every so often while driving the secuity light comes on. After I stop and turn the car off the light goes off. But as sure as god makes little green apples with in a couple of days I'll go to start the car and it wont start. The security light will flash three times then the battery light then the security light. All the gauges work and everything should be go but the starter never kicks in. After playing with the key and trying to start it a couple of hundred times it will finaly start normal. Untill the next time the security light comes on and then the whole cycle repeats again. any Ideas.

Well it sounds like your ignition switch is messed up...get a new one...i can guide you where to go for best price etc since i had to do one on my car...when the security light goes nuts..when the starter wont engage try this...this is the relearn procedure...before you get the new switch.. Try to start it when the security light flashes leave the key forward in the on position as if it started for at least 12 min...as long as its 12 min or more your ok...after 12 min turn it to off wait 3 sec thenn try to start again, it will blink and go nuts on you most likely leave it again for 12 min...repaet the abobe for 3 cycles on the last cycle wait 10 sec then try to start it should start right up then if you have further problems i'd look into an ignition switch,possibly lock cylinder also..(not hard to rekey it) I'll gladly guide you through the repair if needed
