Brake light switch

When it rains it pours!

My son mentioned the other evening that my brake lights were not working. While waiting for a response to the question on the OBD P1105 thread I decided to look at the brake light switch.

What I found makes no sense to me. I found the frame that holds the brake light switch and the automatic speed control device switch (ACSD) do not line up with the brake pedal contact pads. In essence that says to me that the brake lights have been "on" for some lengthy period of time.

Does anyone have an idea as to why the brake pedal contact pads would not line up with the brake light switch plunger and the automatic speed control device switch plunger?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

your brake light switch bracket is bent or contact stopper is missing

Discovered that in the process of trying to remove the brake light switch, got down on the back nut - not the front nut. Further viewing showed the back nut was welded to the frame. By getting back on it going the opposite way I was able to reposition so the brake light and ACSD plungers aligned properly.
