Monsoon won't play...

Hey, I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what's going on with my stereo, because my friends and I really have no clue.
Its the stock Monsoon system on a 1999 TransAM.

My problem is that the system just won't play. The head unit will display the time and radio stations, but it won't play CD's or the radio. I don't get an error or anything.... just no sound from my speakers. I took it to the place I bought it from, and they thought it was the amp. But when they tried it with another Monsoon head and amp, It still wouldn't play. So they have no clue, and the service there is terrible and its far away... so I don't wanna waste more time there. Some friends think it might be the wiring, but I have no clue how to check something like that or fix it.

Please tell me what you think. Any helps is appreciated.

have you tried using a stereo that's not stock? Such as a Sony, Pioneer, etc? Maybe you just happened to use two bad head units in a row.

No, but as I said before, I can't wire. Also, the only stereo I'd have access to is a delco from my Mom's suburban. She wouldn't take kindly to me taking apart her car, and I have no money for a new head.

You dont have to be abel to wire, they make wiring harness' that plug into your stock wiring and into the back of the radio. About a 2-25 minute job (DEPENDING ON THE CAR)

Okay. I just pulled my head unit out to look at the harness. It turns out that several wires have parts that are duct-taped and electrical-taped. So I'm guessing that's the problem. Does anyone know how to remove the harness and where I can get a replacement harness? Would Autozone, Pepboys, or MobileOne have one?

Just go to a junk yard and cut one out of a car or just repair what you have. If you have enough wire there, it isn't hard to do.
