Screeching Noise!

I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE. For the past couple of months, when turning the wheel to the right, I get a screeching noise. As soon as I straighten out the wheel, the sound disappears. This does not happen if I am making a right hand turn from a stop, only when already in motion and there is a bend in the road. Any ideas what would be causing this and how much I'd be looking at to have it repaired?

Thanks.

I have a 2003 SE-R Spec-V and I hear the same kind of noise but only once in a great while. It never works when I take it to get serviced of course, but I find it ususally does it when I back up and turn to the right, but not always. It is very unpredictable. Does this sound like your problem? My warranty runs out in less than 500 miles which will be less than 1 week the way I drive so if anyone can give me any suggestions as to what this would be or how to tell the mechanics to fix it, that would be great. Thanks.

maybe brakes, occasionally they may rub if you turn a certain way, check your cv boots and joints as well

Power steering pump. It is the pump being over worked, and the belt slips. It usually does it a lock. Most times if it is a loose belt it will do it in either direction. But if it only does it in one direction, I am not sure i would worry about it. If you have had the belts replaced recently, then it might have the wrong tention on it. Do not over tighten though as it could cause other failures.

THANK YOU!
it happened to my friend's 01 SE and i couldnt find what it was for the life of me (it really did sound like it was coming from the wheel)

although im half convinced its something else because it happens when the wheel is straight on her car and sometimes is continuous no matter how i drive, except it will stop when i drop below about 10 mph

unless this is because the pump or pump pulley is failing altogether, but that would be shitty on such a new car

i wonder if it would happen anyways on all b15 sentras because my friend hasnt touched her belts or anything yet(only 40k miles so they are good still)
