wich water pump

just inherited a 94 s10 blazer needed water pump- used the w code off from vin # the pump runs backwards-found out the motor was swaped out 3 years back- the the moter says vortec on the cpi. any way to figure out this motor with out pulling engine for motor #- or what water pump do i need to look for.

you are meaning it has the vortec name plate on top of the engine?

yes... it says "vortec V6"

no, that is on top of the valve cover.

Can you get a part # off the old pump? If so, post it and I will try to find the right pump.

I meant the number off the pump that is in there now, he said that the replacement ran backwards. The engine might have came out of a different type of vehicle with a different belt route than blazer's have.

Or the parts place might have just given him the wrong pump. Discount Auto gave me a power steering pump for my Impala that ran backwards....it was in the wrong box.
