96 ford contour

my 96 ford contour transmission suddenly stopped working overnight,So i bought a rebuilt transmission same model,Could i use the original torque converter?

Generally as long as your torque converter isn't cracked and leaking you should be fine. However, if you already shelled out the money for the transmission, I would get a torque convertor as well for the simple fact that:

Your old torque converter is going to have metal shavings and impurities from your old transmission, do you want that in your new one?

^^^ ditto. It might save you a couple hundred, but you don't want that kind of uncertainty.
