Boost is turned up. WS6 bites the dust.

It was a really nice day out, so I figured I would do a little crusing around tonight. My brother was driving the car. Im sitting shotgun and my friend Mark is in the backseat. Wasn't really much out on a Thursday since its a school night. Tried to get a Mustang GT to race, but turns out some girl was driving it and she was on her cell phone, like most girls. So we head home on highway 69 hoping to maybe find a car for a highway run. Nothing. We come up to our exit and as soon as we are merging off our exit, a clean black WS6 hops on the highway. :naughty: We're all thinking the same thing, so we skip our exit. Speed limit is 65 mph, so we're crusing at about 60 to wait for the ws6 to catch up. He finally comes up on our bumper and just follows behind us. Mark and I are turning around and yelling for the guy to pass us, not that he could see or hear us. Well finally he merges into the fast lane and begins to pass us and my brother drops it in 3rd and were doing about 70 mph now. Were driving side by side, and my brother is goosing it a little bit to see if he'll jump. Im running the turbo XS RFL blow off valve, so its going crazy since were crusing at about 5,000 rpm. Everytime he would back off the throttle the bov would sound, so Im sure the driver of the ws6 could hear it. I couldn't see anything inside his car. Windows were darkly tinted, but I could tell he was alone. Anyways, my brother continues to taunt him a little bit and then just does a wot pull in 3rd since he wasn't biting. Maybe he wanted to see what the family sedan was capable of. :grinno: Anyways, we slow back down and wait for him to catch up again, and when he gets beside us, my brother drops it back into 3rd. My brother blurps the throttle a bit to see if he'll bite this time. He bites. :smokin: He jumps about half a car length ahead. Mind you, you couldnt even hear the WS6 downshift because you cant hear a thing inside our car from the drone of the exhaust and the sound of the wastegate and turbo. So, as he gets the jump, my brother floors it. We don't pull much since we only had about 1500 rpm's left in third. Gets to about 6300 rpm's or so and shifts into 4th. The SPEC bites hard and its off in fourth gear. After that, its all over. Get it up to about 105 mph and we've got about a car length on him. We come up to the next exit and he gets off as well, however we both go our seperate ways. I have to be honest, this race was out of spite. Before I did this 3.0L swap and turbo, this kid I used to know that had a WS6 would talk so much trash saying my little V6 contour would always be slow and would never be able to beat a WS6. So ever since this project was done, I wanted to race one just to prove a point. I wish it was him who I could have beat, but this one still had some fulfillment in it. By the way, to all the trans am owners. I have nothing againt these cars. I think they are beautiful, but one doushe bag had to ruin it for me. Btw, the race was done on 10 psi. Discuss. :)

Nice, gotta love the 3L turbo combo :). You go twin? What compression?
beyondloadedSE
03-25-2005, 12:18 AM
compression is 8.5:1. No room for twin turbos. Trust me, if you saw the size of the engine bay, you would wonder how just a single turbo would fit. :banghead:

Oh man, I've been playing the PSP all night, and after reading that, my eyes freaking kill. Paragraphs please...
As far as your new kill goes, that is kick ass. What are you putting down as far as boosting at 10 psi?? Beating a WS6 would be such a nice feeling. But actually owning one would be better. Sorry, but I would rather own a WS6 than your contour. But that's just me. Sweet kill though . L8...

Numbers for 8 psi are in the sig. Im guessing im around 330 whp and 350 wtq or so with 10 psi. Im going to be dynoing again May 20th. Boost is going up to about 17 psi and im hoping for about 380-400 whp. Theres 2 svt contours on contour.org that put down 388 whp and 401 whp on 2.5L but with the same turbo that Im running.
Everybody has different preferences. I like the whole sleeper effect, and the svt contour is a pretty cool car. Mine isnt an svt, but even if I had started with an svt it basically would have ended up as the same results since I have just about every svt engine component besides the block itself. Plus, I pay less for insurance. :loser:

If I was that WS-6, I would've had a good laugh that night. Having my ass handed to me by a Contour....what is the world coming to? lol
What type and trim turbo are you running? Single turbo V-6's can put out some power...and power goals?

Its a .57/.63 T3TO4E. My goal is 400 whp. I really need to start taking my digital camera out with me to take some videos from now on.

Wont know that until May 20th also as I'll be heading to Osceola Dragway after the dyno. The contour platform is not built for the dragstrip. I think the best run from a contour is a 2.5L turbo and he ran a 13.2 @ 107. The next is a n/a 3.0L that ran a 13.4 @ 102. Both of which broke stage 2 axles from Drive Shaft Shop which are rated at 300 hp and yet even an all motor 3.0L broke them. I dont see my Stage 2's holding up much longer. Realistically, I probably run mid 13s, although Ill be trapping high enough to run low 12s with 400 whp.

I believe Danno meant looking to get. I think i'll get a cam when my warranty runs out. More then likely i'll get the same cam as my buddy Steve, since he was able to smog his car. He sees 383 rwhp in his car, and I believe mine was alot stronger then his when his was stock. Anyways, good kill on the WS6. Coincidentally that is the type of car that I own :D

yeah, I think seeing that old grandma's drive contours, people automatically think they are slow. The 4 cylinder automatic is definetely a slouch, but what some people dont know, is when the 2.5L V6 svt contour debuted, it had the highest hp/liter in its a year. Not to mention, the heritage of the motor came directly from Porsche. Ford then took Porsche's engine design and "forderized" it...(i.e. shortened the crank, etc) and put it in the contour/mystique. Since then, the duratec still lives on but as a 3.0L version in the 240 hp Jaguar S type, 232 hp Lincoln LS, and about 5 other vehicles. Its the same as the 2.5L but its been bored over another .5L, so it makes a very easy swap since they bolt up exactly the same.

Thats one kick ass contour man, i've been on this site awhile now. I see ALOT of beat up contours, and your always comes to mind. I'm always like, man that dude on AF did some job on that car. Nice sleeper, to bad it wasn't RWD though, cause you'd easily be in the mid 11's...easily.
It's just like me and my 95 4.6L tbird, immaculate compared to the sh*t i see. I mean, yeah i got normal little dongs here and there, but compared to other birds, it's PRESTINE. Especially when i pop the hood and show them what a "CLEAN" engine looks like, even at 129+k miles. All stock....sadly..... I spend ALL my money and time on making my front stage perfect and my bass response "almost sexual" sounding..lol..
Yeah i'm into car audio, i'm one of those "the car aint sh*t if it's got no system" types.... Considering also if i spend some money on gears, mt swap, sc...engine bolt ons etc, i can hang in there with a descent mid 14's 1/4.....i think..?
