Replacing CV axles on 93 Camry. Tips?

I know this has probably been asked before on this sight. I am replacing both axles on my camry. In reviewing the install procedures, I'm unclear to weather you need to remove the whole shaft or just remove the 6 10mm allen bolts and leave the intermediate shaft in place. What about the driver's side? The new shafts only include up to this part. Any thoughts? Thanks.
