2000 Grand Am 2.4 "skipping" problem HELP

I have a 2000 Grand Am that is "skipping". We have changed the coil packs, catridge and spark plugs but it is still doing the same thing. Does anyone know what the problem might be? There is a new fuel pump on the car. It smells like gas when it is started. I am very frustrated as I have only had the car about three months and have had problems since day one almost. Thank you so much for your advice and help. :banghead:

Deffinately sounds like leaky injectors if you ask me - the injectors are letting in too much fuel - causing flooding and your engine to run too rich = stuttering. The reason it smells like raw gas when you start it is because gas has pooled in the cylinders and is not being burnt.

Thank you for the help. Do you know what needs to be changed on the car to correct this? Do I need new fuel injectors or do they need to be cleaned or what can help? Thank you so much for your advice!!!

No problem - welcome to the forum andrea

Usually leaking injectors is caused by so much dirt / gunk built up in them that they cannot pulse / close properly, and are never able to close all the way. A auto place such as a dealer or some shops can run a system on your car that takes several hours and purges your injectors very thoroughly to remove all sediment build up. It will cost anywhere from 100 to 300 dollars depending on where you go. I would shoot for a shop (dealers overcharge).
