1991 camaro overheating

I bought this car alil under a year ago, knowing it needed some work. It would run for aproximatly 10 minutes before gettin hot, so i just changed the thermostat and that did absolutly nothing. Then it started gettin worse so i parked it, and have been slowly workin on it over the past few months. So far i have bought new heads for it, all new gaskets and all. i've replaced the water pump, and got a new radiator. When u pull of the radiator cap it appears that the antifreeze isnt flowing very fast, but i've changed the water pump twice. Does somone have any ideas?

This may be a stupid question, but does the fan turn on? Otherwise maybe there is some type of blockage somewhere in the cooling system. Just guesses...

i agree, and i wouldnt run it until fixed, this will cause damage to the engine and transmission

Yes, the fan does work just fine. Where could a blockage be?

hard to say off hand, if you're lucky some place easy to find and fix. You said you put in a new radiator so not in there anywhere, what kind of condition was the old one in? If it was really bad that could have caused the blockage if that is the problem. Have you tried to do a flush, maybe you can narrow it down and find the problem. Based on your description the only thing I can think of is that the coolant is not circulating and with all the stuff you replaced a blockaged is all I can think of. Unless maybe the temp sensor is either faulty or the wrong one so it's causing the gauge to read that the temp is really high when it is actually correct for your car. Just ideas, hope they help.

Dumb question.. is there water or anything in your radiator? Is it low?

Xeno, he said he already changed the thermostat and that he can see the coolant when he takes oof the cap, so it isn't low. But you may want to do a pressure test on the cap to make sure it is sealing the system...

Today me and my dad decided that it could be a cracked cylinder wall, so we lifted the engine out today and stripped it down. One of the pistons was clean, and had moisture around it. so i'm thinkin that there was antifreeze on it. So i'm buying a new block tomorrow, and all. and i hope that fixes my problem. But it does appear that i have a cracked cylinder wall.
