Gas gauge doesn't move!

Hello to All My 1999 Suburban 1500 gas gauge doesn't move from full after driving over 100 miles. Can someone tell me what the problem maybe it just started on 3/21/05.

Search this forum with the words 'gas guage'. You'll find several threads on this subject. I had the same problem on my 1999 Suburban K1500. From what I've read, a clogged fuel filter will cause the fuel pump to work extra hard, and get hot. This heat can wreak havoc on the sending unit and basically ruins it. I had a local shop drop my tank and replace just the fuel guage sending unit. The unit cost $147.00. Total repair cost me just under $300.00. The key is to replace your fuel filter every 30,000 miles or sooner. The clogged fuel filter, if ignored can also cause your fuel pump to fail. Then you're talking $300.00 in parts alone. Good luck.
