1977 Firebird Esprit Amp light...

I got my 1977 Firebird about 6 months ago and I've had electrical problem quiet often. The amp light would come on, for no aparent reason, and it would glow lighter and dimmer. Usually there wasn't a problem in the day but when the headlights were on it would usually show the amp light. I just got a new battery 2 days ago and I have this problem again... any ideas?

it indicates a problem with the alternator, check and make sure you have the correct "size" alternatot in the car, if that is the case, replace the regulator and the charcoal pins inside the alternator and your problems are gone.

i believe volkerc covered the bases, but another option is to go to the dealership and ask for a Battery, Starting, Charging test, this should pinpoint any problem you may be having.

it is definately your altinator and be careful with that because it can cause the harness to catch on fire so get it fixed quick and right
