pick one...and tell mewhy
subaru wrx (non sti)
dodge srt4
toyota mr spyder
or a new/used car for 25k or under not listed
to make a long story short...im only gona have my tc for another 3 years when my brother will be getting it. i am kinda bummed. but your saying 3 years is a long time. yes and no. i need to make preperations now so i can have a plan when the time comes...ive been thinking which of the above cars would be best factoring in 1. gas mileage 2. reliability 3. power 4. handling. if its new, i probably wont mod it at first, or if its used...it would be getting a total makeover ( both performance and aesthetics). would like to hear some opinions. thanks

Others new cars under 25k to consider:
Acura RSX-S (decently quick, great build, reliable, great aftermarket, good resale value, decent on gas)
Ford Mustang GT (fast, cheap mods/parts, RWD, retro styling not so bad in person)
Mini Cooper S (quick, nimble, light, good on gas, growing aftermarket)
VW Golf 1.8T/VR6 (quick, huge aftermarket, good on gas, roomy)
Chevy Cobalt SS/Saturn Ion Redline (fast, light, reliable?, cheap parts)
Under 25k used:
E36 M3
Supra TT MkIV
SVT Cobra
Camaro SS/WS6
MR2 Turbo (2nd Gen)

well the only car on that list that you'll still be able to buy new is the WRX (unless subaru goes under or something).
The SRT4 is on its last year 05s. However there might be some good news. It might come back on the EVO X platform probably as a 2007. Rumor goes that will be a North America only reskined EVO as a coupe. In that case SRT4 all the way.

I'd say your best bet is a 1998-2002 Camaro Z28 SS/Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6. The power and handling are obviously excellent, thanks to a big V8 engine and a well-engineered chassis and suspension. The fuel mileage is surprisingly good; 30 mpg on the highway when cruising is no problem. From what I hear, they are pretty reliable too. You can get one in prime condition for well below 25K.
Another option, and my personal pick, would be the WRX. You can probably get a new one and scrape by under 25K, or you can get a gently used 02-04 model. The gas mileage isn't too bad, the reliability is fine except for a couple of known problems on the older WRXs that are covered under warranty, and the power and handling are excellent. It's not as fast as the SS/WS6, but the interior is nicer, the backseats are usable, and the ride is much smoother. It's an overall more civilized and refined car, while still offering a very fun driving experience.

Well, as for the 3 u have, now contest, WRX all the way. As of now, who knows? the Eclipse will have 260bhp fwd at $17k and the Tc is 210bhp at $16. The Solstice very light with 240bhp (or more) and Mazdaspeed Miata 190bhp and for 2k more the mazdaspeed 6 at 274bhp AWD.
just options

Damien, the tC only has 160 horsepower. With the optional TRD supercharger, it makes around 200, but that boosts the price to 20K. The new V6 Eclipse is definitely gonna cost more than 20K. I doubt the Solstice will have 240 HP, unless they drop the Lacrosse V6 in there, which I doubt. It'll probably get the 200 HP, 2.0 S/C Ecotec from the Cobalt SS as the top motor.

Don't you think it would be a good idea if the dropped the Honda bought 3.5L 245hp V6 on the solstice? I mean they got the engine from Honda just to put it in the Saturn Vue!
However, the 205hp s/c Ecotec is a good engine for the car

Honda bought 3.5L 245hp V6
It's 3.0 liters, and 240 hp. And I don't think they need to put a V6 in the Solstice. It's a small roadster, it shouldn't have anything bigger than a four-cylinder in there.

The solstice is going to be a roadster only i believe. Not soft top/hard top. As for the MRS there are some tuners but most swap in a 3SGTE. Like Toms Mr2 with a hard top. If i had to pick one i'd pick the rex but the new ones if they keep the current concept will be ugly as hell. I'd wait and pick up the replacement for the SRT4. Supposed to be a awd, turbo car to compete with the Evos,WRX. Or have u seen nissians new sport coupe? http://www.supercars.net/cars/2005@$Nissan@$Sport%20Conceptx.html while its only a concept the guys from nissian are saying that the production model is already started and being refind by renualt.

WRX for sure. But the Solstice has got to have a soft top. I don't know for sure, but it makes sense.

WRX...
1. Gas mileage is avg
2. Reliability: it's a subaru, 100K+ miles is a given
3. Power: 200+bhp. Plus, since it's gonna be a while before you get it, I heard they're coming out with a 2.5L WRX to compliment the 2.5L STi around 2007 in the USA (Us down here in Oz may never get it though £$%£...just like we don't have the 2.5L STi)...so 200+++bhp
4. Handling: Sticks to the ground and is so much fun to drive through the twisties. AWD=rain, snow or shine.
