I know this is not exactly a "muscle car" question, because it would be considered as a classic or custom car. However, I plan on purchasing a 1949 Chevrolet Convertible. I found it for a reasonable price, and the exterior and interior is in very good condition. However, these cars come with a 216 cubic-inch overhead-valve Six cylinder engine, and a 3 spd transmission.
I basically want this car to be really fast, have good 0-60, and good handling. However, i dont know much about classic cars, as because i drive a 69 vette..
My basic muscle car mentality would suggest dropping in a 454ci and a T-6 Richmond Trans. but i dont know if that would work..
If anyone has any knowledge on what i can do to improve performance and handling drastically on a car like that, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

It would be easier to put a sb ,say a stroker in that car because of the amount of room in the engine compartment.
