Chosing New Hood

I currently have the stock hood on my Camaro but it has a dent in it (to big to be pulled). None of my local junkyards have a hood with some sort of problem so I am going to buying a new one. I cant decide between the SS hood or Summits Ram Air hood. What do you guys think.

um, the ram air hood pic didnt load right or is wrong. which one is it? the T/A firebird inspired or one of the other ones. if its not the T/A hood i think i would go with the SS. IMO the other ones look dumb...
EDIT: nm, its right. i like the SS one better myself.

I like both hoods a lot but if it were me I would go with the ram air hood since you don't see a lot of them around...or atleast fewer than SS hoods.

actually i just ran through all my pics and i think that the only hood i really like is the SS or small cowl. the ram air you got there is actually better looking than the T/A one, but i still say SS.

I like em both. But I see that SS hood alot. Seems everyone around here(my town) has them. It's still a badass hood though.

I personally like the Ram Air Hood because it is different, alot of people have the SS hood, but I still cant decide. Chevyracincamaro any idea where to get those headlight covers... I have seen them on a few diffrent Camaro's and I think they look good on the lighter colored cars.

um last i heard a company named GTS made em. i think the company either went out of business or doesnt make em any more. i dont know, seem to remember something like that but the old memory aint what she used to be. either way, you can prolly pick up a set from ebay for pretty cheap.

If you're getting headlight covers go with smoked or blackouts. The clear ones are pretty queer if you ask me. At least the blacks match the pain that's there, it looks more badass..
I have a presonal thing againt cars lookign like what they're not; between that and the fact that everyone has an SS hood I say the ram air. IDK how much that costs, look into the SLP Ultra Z hood also tho. Same general concept

PERSONALY, I like the 2" cowl induction hood.
But of those two, the only one that I like is the SS hood.

Doesn't the air box get its air from what is flowing past the headlights? wouldn't those headlight covers kill alot of horsepower by restricting air flow? Anyone know for sure?
Savage Messiah
03-24-2005, 02:22 PM
no, the air is collected from underneath, hence the plastic air dam down there to divert the air up
Savage Messiah

but on the SS and Ultra Z hoods they make special airboxes to utilize the hood's scoop... but those normally show about the same gais as a cold air intake
