sound

ok so i have a 04 dbl cab and the bass from the speakers suck pretty bad. wich move will be better? replacing the speakers all around or the stereo? in other words is it the stereo that gives the crapy bass or the speakers? i just dont want a sub because then ill want the eq,top $$$ stereo,top $$$ amp,ect. thanks
