Ferrari F50 GT-Prototyp

Hi,

when Tamiya offered the F50 and I saw photos of the GT prototyp I had no chance – I had to build this car.
Everything on the model that is different to the stock F50 is scratchbuilt. Later Scale Production offered a transkit, too late for me.

Hmm it's slightly inaccurate all over, good effort though. Hopefully I'll get around to doing a dual build of this and the F40 GTE at some point.

Hi M4tt83,

just a question: Have you ever seen a racecar or better a prototyp in real life?
We modelers tend to build the model in a perfect way, nevertheless the 1:1 car isnīt perfect at all.
Look f.e. at the Corvette C5 that raced in the last years and look at the gaps around the doors - I guess you wouldnīt buy a car like this.

Hi SkylineFan,

thanks for your comment.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to piss anybody off. I just gave my honest opinion and think that's what everybody on this forum deserves and I expect the same from other people when I buy a compressor and start on my stash.

As for whether I can do better, I won't know until I have a go myself and the inaccuracies I saw were not in the fit of the panels, but in the shape of various parts compared with the reference photos I have collected. Nothing big really.

Also I have seen various racing cars up close and I am aware that they are sometimes a little rough and ready.

Hi,

thanks for your second comment.

I have no problem with your critics and the last pic, concerning the fit of the hood, supports your opinion.
Nevertheless - as I live just a few kilometers from Hockenheim - I have seen many racecars in the pits and sometimes you wonder if they run if all tape is pulled of.

I hope to find some pics of 1:1 cars in the next day and will them show here.
