Its nether one, its the gas your buying, i'll take a wild guess and guess your buying gass at sheets....or othe low price gas distributer. The smell your smelling is the high sulfur content of the gas. Its and extra "cleaning" step of gas that some company's skip...so you get cheaper gas...I dont belive it hurts anything. Some of the newer more expensive cars have an additive in the catalytic converter to handle the extra sulfur but most dont. So if it bothers you start buying your gas at exxon....which i would do any way... the extra $1-2 per fillup you save you loose in performance any way... better gas = car can generate same power output as with more of lower grade gas... if that makes sanse.

Thanks but I pay from premium gaz, never any regular unleaded.
I don't get gaz at Shel's or Petro Cant or Sonoko.

usually its the catalytic converter. but with a new car like that, the gas sounds right. try getting it at a different station for one time. i know that the gas in my area is messed up because we got a bad batch, so everyone gets it at certain stations. otherwise the fuel injectors get clogged and make the car sound like its running on half the cylanders

Haha, generally this is def caused by your 02 sensor going bad. It will send often overly rich mixtures into your engine- your engine is unable to burn it completley (you also lose a good deal of performance for this), your now sending unburnt fuel into the exhaust system. Most of this gets burnt in the exhaust (hey they glow red for a reason) but some of it can start to gunk up your cat. Sulphur is used in gas, mix that with 02- account for how much of it there is, there you go. Rotten eggs.
PS: Just for rdulgaro, i did a quick google search- heres the first link.

Just hit find and tell it to look for "rotten eggs".
Added: Oh btw a thought corssed my mind- what kind of car do you have? It could be because you are using premium, the point of premium is to use a higher octance for cars with increased compression or are turbo charged. The higher the octane the hotter it has to be to go "bang". On turbo and high comp cars this is to avoid predet, but if your using it in a car that its not needed for chances are your engines not burning all the fuel properly and youll run into the same problem mentioned above.
Premium gas on cars that dont need it hurts performance ;)

Thanks for the link, the vacum check for the clog was educational, interestingly, the rotten egg smell has been gone from my car sense i've installed a cold air intake, so it does sound like the O2 sensor was off and over-riching the mixture and with the extra air its actually getting burned now. Ether way i dont mind the smell, i'd rather be running little rich. Ohh and i have the matrix xr so its a higher compression engine. Your right premium gas on low compressin cars does nothing and does hurt it, i noticed that when i got a jeep cherokee, its a 4 litter and i think the engine is a 8:1 compression, i filled it with 93 once and god it ran like crap, on 87 its a lot smoother and i can feel it pulls stronger.

An xr is not a high compression engine :shakehead the xrs does. FYI, an xr do not need to run any octane that is higher than 87 why? because you're just wasting money where the xrs must not run any octane that is lower than 91 due to the high compression engine.

Ok its a good thing you are speechless, because you need to stop talking, and typing because apparently you dont know the proper grammar. Learn to write then go learn some about cars and come back here. XR hase a compression ratio of 10:1 to me and to most normal people thats already a high compression ratio, compared to a 8:1 thats in a jeep cherokee 4L engine (ohh boy hes gone come back with some half assed info on that in next post) so. 10:1 ratio will take advantage of higher octane fuel. If you dont think so ask some other people on here to go fill up on some cheap 87 and then on some exxon 93 and see if the car feels the same.

exxon smells more than others in my case so I wouldnt recommend it. I dont know about other people but in my experience their pumps are set too sensitive and shutoff alot which is annoying and that also doesnt happen to me at other stations.

SHELL ALL THE WAY! It is the best. Then Chevron..Exxon last. I have an 86 Prelude Si and I go farther and get much better performance from Shell 93 octane than I do 87. But I've never in my LIFE and 10 cars smelled different smells from one gas to the next and I've run every grade and cheap brand of gas imaginable.
