Hey,
I think it varies model by model. AA has some of the highest quality paint and details. But they are not always spot on. And not always realistc, example, dogleg hinges on doors. The mint company cars try to be very realistic with the fully plumbed and wired engines, breaklines, oprning gas door, glovebox, real cloth or leather. But then, some still have the dogleg hinges. Which models where you referring to with the 1:24 scale AA cars? I have never seen them in that scale.

most detailed diecast?
i would answer none of the above. to my knowledge, CMC is probably the best. im sure there are handmade diecasts out there that are even better than CMC, but those are for ballars. Aa is a prefer company for low budget collectors and they are well made overall. Some of the followings for example:
great job with engines

wood panels

seats,seatbelts

For instance, they completely botched the Diablo GT-R by having the side air-intakes leaning backwards instead of forwards. I believe they have recently corrected the problem. They also hacked the Mucielago Roadster by positioning the different colored seats in the wrong sides.

Some of the older models lack the through detail like blubaja said, such as the door hinges and all. But their overall quality is top notch. Paint is great, and other detail is great. Also, on some of the older models, AutoArt still hasnt ventured away form using decals and so they start to fall off, like on my CL55 AMG. As for their 1/43rds, they're just some of the best and most detailed 1/43rds you'll ever see. Minichamps is good too yes, but AutoArt is like the king in my opinion. But I've never heard of 1/24 AutoArts. I dont think there is such thing.
Here's what I have of AutoArt:
1/18 2001 Lincoln Navigator
1/18 1998 Lexus GS400
1/18 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG F1 Williams Edition
1/43 Jaguar XJR
1/43 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6HSE
1/18 Maybach 57
1/18 Volkswagen Phaeton (by far my most favorite and best AutoArt model evar)
1/18 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster
ALl of which I am very very happy with
But I want to tell you a company that is really off the hook, and is just ab-so-lute-ly unbelieveable in detail is Kyosho.
