They are built on the same chassis. They do not use the same frame because the body structure is different.
Actually, the frame they use is also used on the FX35, FX45, Murano, G35 sedan, and a few other cars. So it's no wonder that the 350Z weighs so much IMO. It keeps costs for Nissan down by preventing having to do more R&D for a new chassis just for the 350Z to weigh less.

only Nissan's trucks use a frame. all others are unibody.
the 350Z chassis is a derivative of the G series chassis, but shorter. even shorter than the G35 coupe.

the G35 is built on the V35 chassis.
both share the FM platform.
