98 civic timing question

I put a new cap and rotor on my civic and now the car wont start.
When I went to put the new rotor on i couldnt get to the screw holding it on, So with the cap off I tuned the motor over (with the key) a couple of times so I could get to the screw... Well after putting everything together the car will not start. All the plug wires are in the correct order. Did I throw off the timing when I turned the car over with the cap off? If so How do I fix it?

double check u'r plug wires, they don't go 1-2-3-4. it's 1-3-4-2. also, double check the rotor to make sure u didn't accidentaly put it on 180 out of phase. another question, is the car turning over at all? just not firing? did u turn the distributor at all? that would adjust the timing and if it was too retarded or advanced it won't run. make sure all u'r plug wires r on fully and in the right order. check the rotor to make sure it is on right, and is the cap on right

I fixed it... It was a bad ignition coil.

good to hear, and thank u for following up w/ wut the problem was caused by. not many people do, and it really helps when they do. that way when (i should say if) people do a search for the topic, they'll have a better idea of wut to check.
