Actually I don't think that it is fake I heard about this about a week ago, he is a police officer who deals with kids in gangs or something and he was giving a speech at a local school, he took the clip out of his gun but forgot about the one in the chamber.

I think he should be fired to tell you the truth. Absolutely no reason to have a loaded gun in school, if he still wanted to use the gun he could have made sure it was empty earlier and taken an empty clip out of it during the presentation if he wanted that added flair of pulling the clip like he had here.

WTF!?!?!?!?! How in the world is that guy a cop, let alone qualified to teach gun safety..........

I would love to hear about the I&I investigation on this one.

If you watch the movie, yes it was loaded. But he did take out the magazine and racked the slide open. He then had another person verify that the chamber was empty. If you watch it, he holds it up in front of everyone with the slide racked back. He then probably put the magazine back in and chambered a round before holstering it which is when he had his accident. If you are on duty then yeah obviously you would be carrying a loaded weapon, teaching a class there is no reason for it. Either way he made a mistake, and I'm sure it hurt like hell.

The good point brought out was don't fuck with guns especially if you are distracted. Even when you are accomplished with them accidents can happen. Point proven. If you're a neophyte- like all the rest of the young pups in the room- don't handle them!

I don't have any specific references, I just remember a co-worker telling me about a drug or gang enforcement officer out in california or something, shot himself in the foot trying to give a presentation on weapons at a highschool that they read about or something. So when I saw this video it rang a bell and seemed likely to be one and the same.

I dunno maybe it is fake, maybe this is what they were talking about and not some news story like I thought.

around here, the cops have loaded weapons and patrol the schools on a daily basis. my best friend Kate's brother and sister are cops, and we've been down to the police station with them a few times, they actually have to take the magazine out and fire the bullet from in the chamber into a bullet proof safe type of thing outside. its pretty sweet. they cant have loaded weapons inside their building.

One thing for sure. If you handle firearms long enough you're bound to have an accident. The reason of training is the fact that this guy had the weapon pointed in the proper safe direction as he should have and no one got hit.

In 1971 I was attempting to clear a .25 semi-auto pistol I'd taken from a drunk driver. I had to watch him (in cuffs) and make the pistol safe to transport and keep onlookers away all by myself. Well upon dropping the mag out and pulling back the slide that was sweat-soaked from being in the drunk's waistband to eject the chambered round it slipped. Of course I had it pointed at the dirt road and end of story.

One thing for sure, you'll want this guy to show up real bad if you are getting your snow white ass hassled by gang members in East L.A. because you took a short cut.

Are you sure he didn't get shot? It looked like he was limping around after the gun went off. That would be great if he shot himself in the foot. Looks like he had enough steroids in his system to help him with the pain.

i made my speakers too loud, and the shot made me jump lol.

But from what indyram said, the slide was locked open to show the gun was locked and it does look like he put the clip back in and released the slide. BUt I'm surprised he did not have the safety on. I'm sure you can release the clip and pull the slide all while the ssafety is engaged. duh lol. In my town, the service pistol that they still use are the Ruger P-series. The thing I don't like with glocks is the hidden hammer. with pistols that have exposed hammers, it's easier to see whether the gun is cocked or not and is prone to being shot regardless of the saftey. But when my towns cops came in to teach D.A.R.E., they had their loaded service pistols but obviously had the saftey in it.

Glocks do not have a safety lever. The 2 stage trigger is the safety as such. They are hammerless so one cannot tell if it is cocked either. If someone doesn't understand basic stuff like I just wrote they shouldn't handle firearms. I'm not talking down to anyone at all but just be safe out there! If you're exposed to a firearm that you are unfamiliar with leave it the hell alone!
