92 Buick PA won't start

My roommate borrowed my car and left the emergency break engaged. Yesterday I started the car and started to back out of my spot, when I noticed the "break!" light on the dash lit up. After releasing the emergency break, I started the car again and the light still came on. I started and turned off the car several times. Then I engaged the emergency break and released it again. When trying to start it this time the car wouldn't start. I am getting no noise, just a slight clicking sound when i turn the key. Also, the "break!" light still comes on when the key is in the ignition.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? I am aware that the e-break should not have any affect on the car not starting, but it seems like quite a coincidence. Perhaps I damaged the battery by repeatedly starting and turning off the car? I am going to have AAA give me a jump tomorrow to see if this gets it started. Is this a good idea?

My automotive knowledge is very limited, so I appreciate any help/advice anyone can offer. Thanks.

You drained your battery by starting it all those times.

The brake light will com on if there is any problem with the brake system, not just the E-brake. Check your fluid, and fill with fresh DOT3 if it's low.

Yeah, I thought that's what happened, but I wasn't sure because the lights and radio still work. I'm assuming I have enough juice left in the battery for those, but not enough to start it, right?

As for the break system, I checked the fluid yesterday after the car wouldn't start and it's fine. Hopefully the light will go off after I jump the car and get it started again.

Thanks for your help.

If your getting a click, theres almost enough juice to turn the starter, but not enough.

Make sure the terminals are fully tightened on the battary as well., that can simulate a weak battery.

Brake light problem: Located on the lever of the parking brake pedal is a switch that engages when the parking brake is used. The activator for this switch may be stuck on even after you release the E-Brake. It may also be that there is slack in the E-cable where the brake pedal does not fully return to shut off the light switch. If this is so, then release the brake, and manually pull the pedal up.

yep, i agree, the cable on my 91 is "slow" also, it doesn't go back by itself, needs some help...might be the other members problem also...

On Thursday I was going to get a jump, but tried to start it first and it worked on its own. I drove around for about 20 minutes and then came home. I turned off the car and then tried to start it again and it started. Then on Friday it worked again when I went to the store.

Tonight it wouldn't start again. It did the same thing as before with the clicking sound. I had someone give me a jump and that didn't work either. Could this be a problem with the alternator? Or should I just try to replace the battery?
