That happens to me sometimes but it has never happened to were it jumps to that high of an rpm level. maybe an maf problem or fuel delivery._what kind of fuel pump do you have?

probally the injectors, check them out and see if they even look out of the ordinary. if thats not it then check your entire fuel delivery system becuse it sounds like one of the cylinders probally is gettin to much fuel

Too much fuel would bog the engine not rev it to 3.5

Are you forcing the RPM down once in gear or does it do it with the clutch in too?

sounds like you've got a wiring problem. I dunno if the IAV would be able to get the RPM that high though.

Adjust your Throttle... it could be something gay like that

EDIT: Finished (gay teacher)

engines always rev high when cold.

if it stabilizes when it warms up, this is normal. if not it could be your water temp sensor or tps.

Yeah But 3.5?

mine does 1500 Cold and 800-1100 (depending on how the IAV is feeling I guess)

I'd also say TPS, it might be thinking the gas pedal is halfway down even when you don't have your foot on it. Or something along the throttle cable.
