I have a 91 Thunderbird and am in desparate need of a new power steering pump it leaks it makes all kinds of sounds when I take a sharp turn and no junkyards around have any. Any Idea's welcome or anyone with a junk t-bird who can part with their pump. thanks. : )

I don't know if cost is the issue, but most auto parts stores carry the non-variable assist pump and can order the v.a. if they don't have it (although many carry that in stock as well). I have looked through junkyards for these pumps myself, and after seeing all of the crap that accumulates down there, I have since decided that it's worth it to just get a new one. They do offer core values for those, too, so be sure to find out how much they want after returning the core, if it's not already reflected in the price. Good luck, man.
Oh yeah, remember that if you buy that thing on line, that it's going to cost you a bit for shipping, so you may be better off getting one new for that reason as well. Not to mention it's much faster.

OK, i had a 1991 t-bird 3.8 that i scrapped... but before i did that i ripped a tonne of parts off of it... one of them being the pwr steering pump... Ive got them all sitting in my garage taking up space lol. If you still need one or any other parts let me know by email and im sure we can work something out... [email protected]

Hi Chris,
I also have leak in my PS system -- the high pressure hose.
Since you are replacing a PS pump, I'm wondering if you took a look at the high pressure hose yet? Does your '91 have a ridiculously long hose with a long skinny cylinder in the middle of it routed all over hell like my '92 does? (My '95 has it, too.)
If so, do you know what that cylinder is for? I'm thinking to bypass it with a short hose to fix my leak. Wondering if that will "hose up" operation of the system.... Thanks!
