GP Tops Out at 176 Km/h I WANT MORE !

I have a 95 GP Se 3100 and there is an electronic govoner that cuts out the top speed at 176 Km/h (I'm in Canada BTW) and I really want to bury the needle on my GP so, is there anyway to remove or trick this govoner ? My auto teacher is pretty cool and he has a Snap On Code reader/ Programmer, can this do it perhapps? Also I want the tranny to shift earlyer in some of the gears is there any way to acomplish this?

assuming your talking about my car I want to have a top five 1/4 mi time. on any forum.

You want a be real carefull here in the Great White North you would atuomaticly lose you license here for that and will never get insurance again.

But maybe thats just me.I see poeple breaking the law all the time no problem but as soon as I do,theres a cop right there.

i'd like to know how his driving skills are before letting him go faster. need to get some better suspension if you want to go any faster in that se.

i would hate to break you the bad news but if i were you i would just not even waste my time or money on that 3.1. i am the previous owner of a '96 gp 2dr special edition. it looked like a gtp but it had a 3.1 and it was not the weakest but there is no potential to those motors. if you want that 3.1 to last you better drive it nice or it will shit on you. im not joking i beat my GP but mainained it properly with the 3000 mi oilchanges and what not. it was in exc. cond. one day i was driving down the road at like 60mph then out of the blue it just shut off. when i restarted it it was knocking. the motor took a shit i had to get a boneyard one then sell the car. i dont trust a 3.1 as far as i can throw it. watch that thing!

To get into those times, I wonder how much money he has. It will take a lot of money to get his car into the 10"s.

first, engine swap. 2, reprogram the pcm, 3 etc etc etc

Hey Guys thanks for all of the replys, but I tihnk your getting the wrong ideas LOL. I am quite aware that a 3.1 is a workhorse motor and a 95 Se isn't supposed to be a rocket, so I'm not looking for quarter mile times or anything I am just looking for top speed, and you see at 176 Km/h its only reving at about 4000 Rpms the redline is 5900 Rpms, so as I said at 176 an electonic speed govoner not a rev limiter kicks in and cuts the engine out to prevent me from going any faster, so I want to know how to remove this cut off, so how would I go about reprograming the computer, and the GP SE actually feels very solid at 176 thats why I am comfortable at those speeds, as well I do understand the consequences of being caught but thanks for the concern, but I LOVE the speed.

aron...please tell me that you are not a 16 year old who just got his license. As for the programer, I got a 94 GTP and I have yet to find one.

i am going to start a huge battle here.......before i start it, i know that its preference and some people love having those sleepers that will smoke a viper..... but for the money your going to pay to get your GT or GTP running in mid 11s to high 10s....... you could honestly just go out and get a new corvette ....not like im doing the math here... but the point is..... throw a few mods on a GTP or GT... make it "quick" leave it at that.... My two cents....

i would have to agree with you totally. the only gtp's in the 10's and 11's are driven by people that have what i like to call "ghost cash". that means that the money inst an option and if they had to they would pay 80,000 dollars to have an exclusive 10 second gtp. once mine breaks a 13.7 i will be more than satisfied. im just going for the 13's, everyday driving quickness. if i wanted to go 11's i would buy a race car with a big block.

.....i never ever in my whole life time thought i would say this, but. for around 28,000$....those Mustang GTs are looking damn good.... 0-60 in 5 flat.... i think that the stang just took the corvettes spot as far as "bang for your buck" goes.....

Here's my two cents worth. I agree. The math I am doing is how much of a horsepower gain you would need to get into the 10 - 13 ET area and the total cost of all mods. The stock GTP or GT 4T65-E tranny and the drivetrain will not hold together long enough to make it worth while and in the end at what cost?

With the mods I currently have it is a sleeper and surprised kids with a Mustang GT many times of course ruling out Cobras and the new Shelby, etc.
