Transfer case help!

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I could really use some help with my Jeep. A few days ago, my '93 GC died and this morning I had it towed to my mechanic. But aside from the problem of it not starting, when the tow truck guy showed up, he wanted me to steer my Jeep up onto the back of his truck while he winched it up there. That is when I do believe I did some extremely stupid... My GC has the QuadraTrac system on it with full time 4wd and I completely forgot where to shift the transmission and transfer case for neutral so it would roll freely. I've never had to deal with putting it in neutral before so I just put the transmission in neutral and left the transfer case in 4wd... thats when I heard a loud clunking sound but my Jeep was rolling. Can anyone tell me if I destroyed my transfer case or transmission by not putting the case in neutral? I really hope I didn't because I currently don't have the $1k or so to get that fixed too. Thanks a bunch for the help, its greatly appreciated!

No, you shouldn't have hurt anything in the TC by not placing it in NEUTRAL as long as the transmission was in NEUTRAL and the jeep was on a flatbed. I had my jeep flat bedded last summer and I didn't place the TC in neutral and it didn't hurt anything. altho I would be worried about trying to find out what that sound was.
