parking breaks

Everytime we park do we need to use our parking breaks?
Something I NEVER do, and I see most people do it.
Is it harmful to the car? if so, why? I need at least one good reply, thanks.

There is no harm to the vehicle either way. If the brake is used, the cables and actuators are more likely to work properly than if never used. If they are never used, the cables and actuators can bind, freeze up, or not engage when trying to apply. If parked on an incline, it is recommended to engage parking brake first, then shift to park to take pressure off the parking pawl in transmission. Hope this helps.

Actually if it is an automatic you want to apply the park brake before removing your foot from the break, this keeps the car from rolling against your trasmission causing wear.
