My friend has a 1969 Roadrunner with a 383 and he claims he pulled a 13.5 1/4 mile time. His car is dead stock except for two 4 barrel carbs. Could he really pull a 13.5 with only new carbs or is he making it up?

What gears does he have in it?

I'm not sure what gears he had he sold the car a little over a year ago

i seen factory stock 383s push the roadrunners into 13.2`s with slicks, i seen a 426 hemi ( not much more hp/trq than a stock 383 ) and they pull a 12.8 with slicks stock.

The best years for the 383 - 335HP @ 5200 (335HP@5200) RPM / 425 TQ @ (ft.lbs.@pounds-feet)3400 RPM.

426 Hemi - 425 HP / 425 TQ (conservative) and they'll run a lot faster than 12.8!
Hemi's rebuilt to factory specs routinely produce 450 HP on an engine dyno ...
