Trouble starting my 97 Runner

Hey guys whats up,
I think im starting to experience my first problem with my truck so first off the basics. 97 Limited with the 3.4 (im assuming) approx 82000 miles on it, now heres the deal, starting today while running errands I noticed that when I go to start the truck as I always do when I turn the key all the way to the right to start\crank, nothing happens, all my lights come on on the dash but no click or anything. If I quickly turn key to off and back to start the truck will fire right up. I didnt mess around too much becuase I was about 15 miles from home when I began to notice this, but once I got it back in the driveway I tried to duplicate the problem and isolate the cause, I noticed that when it happens if I turn the key back off and on quickly it will fire right up, if i turn the key off and wait a few seconds it wont. I also started and stopped the truck around 5 times with no problems. My first thought is that it is the ignition tumbler assembly, as I have had this go on another vehicle of mine in the past, but while i was in the driveway I started to think it might be something else in the electrical system, but I dont have a the slightest clue what. Well I would really appreciate any info you guys have to offer as it seems to be better than most mechanics, Ive tried to help other people here out with non technical issues as much as I could, and will continue to do so, so hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction. Also if there is any other info you might need to help figure this out let me know, Ill be home all day with the truck checking in every once and ahwile.
Thanks again..
Brian

I had a similar problem with an '87 Camry that i had, come to find out the problem was that my battery cables had come loose and were not gettin enough juice to start but just enough for lights and that to come on. Just an idea. Good Luck
