I'm buyin a 91 SL within the next few days, Cali. car... PRISTINE condition. What I'm wonderin though is if there is any way to convert my 91 headlights to the newer style. I don't have anything against the flips... but the new headlights are just beautiful.

Its expensive, might aswell get the 99 conversion if your gonna get rid of the first gen stuff. Talk to stealthee, I think he went first gen to 3rd.

Oops, what I really meant was my car is a 94 so it didnt take much work for the 99 front. Just search for my thread on 3si about the conversion.:)

yeah i was thinking about converting my 92 vr4 but to get just the lights is around $1000... then you have to buy the hood... +$700...
and to make the head light fit you also have to buy the front bumper... +$500...
then there is other little nicks and nacks you have to buy like the radiator support and headlight buckets... turning signals, fog lights ext...
makeing the grand total around $2630...
then the first gen look really started to look good to me ;)

You can get away doing it ALOT cheaper than that. There is a guy on 3si who did his swap for under $1000. IF you are paying $700 for a hood you are paying too much. You should be able to get a used one for $250 or less. You dont actually need 99 lights, you can get second gen Stealth lights for about $400 for both. It just takes some shopping.

Then theres paint and active areo simulaitor and fog lights, ughh, so expensive. Don't the second gen 3000GT lights work ok with the 99 stuff too? And stealthee, you should get a 3rd gen spoiler to complete that car of yours.

The 3000gt lights can work ok with the 99 bumper but there is a minor gap. As for the spoiler I was considering a hoop spoiler but went with the 96 Stealth wing. The 96 wing looks so much better than a regular Stealth wing and it totally completes the look of the car. Who knows though, the car is going some minor changes soon so a hoop may work its way in.

true you can go salvage parts... but how many 3000gt do you find in salvage yeards... thats rare... evay mabey if your lucky... of corse there is a way cheaper way ;)
plus i was looking of the 3sxperformance.com site at their 99 conversion whne i wrote that.
and also you need to consider paint ;)

There are ALWAYS parts to have over on 3si. I sold headlights, hood, turn signals, core support and other misc stuff to someone for $500.;) Of course it was a very good friend who we were doing a secod gen conversion for but still the parts are there if you look. And yes I love 3sx, I have bought a few things from them and plan on at least one more thing but they are overpriced on some things, such as the 99 conversion.
I am assuming your car is red by your name, all 99 bumpers come in red and I beleive it matches your red. If you could get a second gen red hood then nothing is left really.

It would be awesome if the Eclipse turbo high rise spoiler could fit on 3KGts and stealth...that curve compliments the whole car.

Way too short on width IMO, the geat thing about the "3rd" gen 3000GT hoop is that its real wide so its height dosent look as funny. Hrrm, mines red, so I could just slap on the bumper and be set?

Yah almost positive. If you stay with your 3k lights you will have a minor gap, nothing that cant be dealt with.
