95 Cirrus, lots of problems

I have myself a 95 Cirrus, in pink, v6 2.5l. It's sitting in my driveway in Toronto, and I'm in Saskatoon, trying to get it out here. The tranny "blew" a couple weeks before I moved out here. It goes into the "limp home mode". Which is scary on the highway because it goes into neutral until I get under 60 klicks. I found that the good news is is that I might not need a whole new tranny, just a "new solenoid pack and a new TCM". I have no idea what these are, do, or how much they cost. Any other solutions?
Another problem I have is that if the car goes over a certain RPM, almost to the red (yes, I enjoy the occasional show off vroom vroom. ive kicked some ass in that car), the steering goes. It goes very stiff, like the power steering mechanism goes. After shutting off the car and alowing it to cool for a bit, the steering comes back and its fine. The trigger is revving the engine too far. Happens only then, and every time the engine revvs.
Nothing like going 120 on the 401 when your car slips into neutral, and because you didn't notice, you revved the engine too far and you lose your power steering. Double whammy. :uhoh: Luckily I'm a pro star driver and didn't kill me and my passenger or even flinch in stress :smokin:
It just occured to me that if going fast enough, not having power steering wouldn't stiffen the wheel, so I guess it locks up, though there is enough movement to get the hell off the road.
Then there's the muffler issue (when I said vroom vroom, i meant VROOM VROOM), the o2 issue (car is a gas guzzler), the crooked tire issue, the horn issue, and the non-working tail light issue (damn canadian tire NEVER has the lamp i need).
Any ideas on the tranny and the steering problems?
newish battery, plugs, and distributor (that i can think of anyway. im sure my papa has done more work on it).

If it needs a solenoid pack, chances are, it SHOULDN'T need a new TCM (transmission control module); you can go to a Chrysler dealer and have them flash program the TCM to update its operating parameters, though it is a possibility that both need replacing, I'd have to see it for myself. As far as the steering, I'm not sure, but I believe you have speed-sensitive power steering; what that means is that when your car goes over a certain vehicle speed, the steering speed slows down to prevent over-correcting and spin outs; I'll check to make sure, I didn't think Chrysler used to many speed-sensitive power steering, but I believe that might be the problem.

speed sensitive steering? wouldnt that mean that i would have to be going over a certain speed? the problem only happens when the rpms go over a certain point (almost red lines) and it wasn't always like this.
thanks for the info, im going to pass it on to papa.

i have almost same problem like you . my 95 ,v6 cirrus act strange few week ago ,i do not have any clue to look for . The tach meter sometime not running at all , sometime over rev ( when the car is downthe hill , i release gas pedal but the rpm keep going up to the speed of vehicle. Is it tranny problem or input , output sensor ,tach meter problem ??? ) and also i noticed when the time happenning every time i move tranny selector to P,R,D3,D2 .. the car kicking hard like some one kick in my back .

umm bro, im a sistah. and im in canada, so thats in KM/H. and yes, i did the tranny oil. i may be a chick, but im not an idiot thank you very much.
i ended up just buying a brand new cobalt instead of dicking around with an older car. i dont have a garage nor the tools to deal with little things that come up.
