If I removed the AC comppressor from my 1998 Eclipse RS what belt would I use in place of the longer belt.

Logicaly thinking, if the AC compressor is removed, there is no reason for a belt to be there. Not to sure about the 420a, but the 4g63 has 3 separate accessory belts (alternator , power steering, AC).

my compressor went out in my 95 420a, and i want to say its a 48... inch. but you run the belt from the crank to the alternator and the power steering, just pull realll hard to get it to slip on, and dont over rev cause itcould slip off, over rev as in 9500 rpms

If you were to pull a belt to get it on it would be to tight and put to much stress on the bearing.

no, the belts run much tighter than that normally anyways. you'd have to pull on it to get it over the bearing walls but you'd still have to tighten it more.

belive me a 46 or so works, you get part of the belt on the powersteering pump and push on the pully ot make it spin and it will fall on, its snug. i just have a slightly warped crank pully from hitting a dog so when i get abouve 7000 rpms it comes off. but ive driven with it on for over a year no prob. im almost sure its a 4 rib 46. if not autozone will work with you till oyu get the irght one to fit. its not hard. my AC compressor is still on my car till i can replace it, just beltless
