All I've been hearing is turbo's turbo's turbo's which is better etc... Does any one have any scanned dyno tested V6 Turbo Eclipses or specs?? I already have found out the RS/GS not even sure what else there is are jokes with turbos. Posting a web site with actual film soon. However does any one have any educated disagreements or agreements against one of the other. I'm trying to find out really what is the big deal. I've honestly heard so many different things about them both, good and bad Please this is not a fight of who knows more, I'm learning and just want some insight. I don't pretend to know much, just got the money to test cars out and really find out which is fasters but would like some of your guys educated info.

i dont really know much about cars, so i dont know if this is the same for them... but for turbo/supercharged aircraft, turbo's are more efficient because they use fresh air while superchargers use the exhaust.

the search feature may provide valuable information to your cause. Not only has this topic been covered time and time again here but also throughout af.com
Basically what I've gathered is that a turbo runs off of the exhaust and the supercharger runs off of the engine. This means there is a vampiric hp loss for a supercharger.
A supercharger spools instantly and holds boost to redline I believe where as a turbo will take longer to spool depending on size, the bigger it is the more time is required to spool it completely. Bolt ons and fuel support mods will help a turbo spool more quickly.
I feel the benefits of a turbo overshadow those of a supercharger because while the supercharger is torquey it still sucks some hp out of the gain. I've also seen a lot of variety within turbos than superchargers so you can select a specific turbo for a specific goal or application.
There is more and more and even more information to be given and I could go on like this for pages but I'm sure a quick click of the search button will turn up much more information than I can type at the time.

No didn't want start a stupid conversation, but I just get the feel that most are for the turbo but field studies are different. Just trying to get someone that has a V6 Turbo, don't care how big, to run against my V6 Supercharged Eclipse. Want to compare dyno tests etc... So we can end the question turbo vs. supercharger. Just can't find anyone that has a turbo, for the V6 that's all. You need to keep in touch and check out our site, finishing it up in two weeks. All is welcome, real video, oh cars that have 50K invested in just the engines, all different kinds etc...It's going to be a cool site.

What question though? It has already been justified as a decision that must be based off of personal preference and not some silly fact sheet. All we can do here is provide you with pros and cons of each but really what kind of comparison are you trying to make? An eclipse set up to run a small 16g turbo @16 psi will run very different dyno numbers than one say set up to run a 20g @20psi. Say you have your supercharged v6 eclipse and you find somone with a ghetto or small turbo setup and the supercharged v6 beats the turbocharged v6 then. Then again you could find a nicely set up turbo and lose to it so what is the point?
Its not like turbochargers come in one size and one specific application like the RIPP supercharger kit does. RIPP's kit has 3 stages for the supercharger and thats about it for supercharged eclipses but the application possibilities of a turbo setup are vast. t3/t4, 16g of any type, t25, 20g, 14g, etc... You really have to know how these things work.

you are so right, I like how you think man, but what I've learned and experienced is every new model car is different. There are very very very few cars V6 eclipse with turbos, and many with superchargers. I believe for this make of car the supercharger is a better buy and safer, how other like you said there different model years that could or would beat this model year V6 supercharged. What I'm finding interesting is I'm willing to pay for someone to go to the IL Speedway with a earlier model eclipse with anything on it but nos, and if a V6 supercharged eclipse loses I will pay for his trip if not he's on his own. That simple, but can't get any takers for my website. It's not because I think I can win, I want to see what happens. And plus it would be fun, got a few buddies with nice rides, factory rides, vetts, saleens, porshe, etc...

go to www.club3g.com and look in the forced induction section. you will find plenty v6 eclipses with turbos. and just so you know....there is a 4cyl that is running 13psi and put down 308whp with a dyno sheet to prove it. but im guessing you are going to call that crap.

I think the only real reason the supercharger has become more prominent for this car is because it was the first quality forced induction kit to be placed on the market and even now we still await a company to put together a decent turbo kit. Where some wait for companies to put out turbo kits, others have gone and formed their own. The website eclipsed4utoo posted should be helpful in your search.
Also I wasn't really speaking of the models or years but rather the type of turbo application (meaning how big the turbo would be, what type, what other supporting mods, etc etc). All those letters and numbers for example t-25 or 16g stand for the different types of turbocharger and with each different type brings a different potential for power.
I don't want to put you down, I think it would be interesting to see a video of a turbo 3g vs a supercharged 3g but I just think you should study up some more on different turbo applications to narrow down your search because god knows a stage 3 RIPP supercharger would take a 3g equipped with say a small turbo like a t25 with supporting mods anyday but I would suggest you find somone with a turbo running close to the same numbers on the dyno as you are to make it a worthwhile comparison.

Just to add a little spice... Superchargers give great low end power but a turbo gives just over low end all the way to high end.
A friend of mine has a 2001 grand prix GTP and had plans for a better supercharger and other shit...$17,000 later he could have about a 12 sec car... He is now seeing the beauty of a turbo and there is a kit for his car that is all bolt-on for $4500 and it will put him in the 12sec. range... and more HP.. All signs I have ever seen point to TURBO.

Roots blowers provide great low end power. The centrifugal blowers do nothing for the low end.
