240 fire

Well took the 240 out last night to have some fun came to a red light and the car died i pushed it off the road then noticed smoke coming out by the passenger rear tire and around the gas door so i opened the gas door and flames were shooting out the latch hole so i shut the lid and opened the hatch to find a can of starter fluid shooting flames so i grabbed it and threw it the car was still burning so i ripped my shirt off and started smothering the growing flames fighting it hard I put out the flames with what i think will be minimal damage I have yet to really see it since I got second and 3rd degree burns on the fingers of my right hand and went to the hospital so i will be leaving here in about 30 minutes to go to the burn center for sevear burns on galviston island anyone with a parts car that would like to donate some hatch carpet and section of fuel pump harness as well as some other harnesses in that area feel free to I gotta get this thing going for the 240 meet in houston next month, NEXT MOD FIRE EXTINGUISHER

damn dude, your one dedicated forum member. You just got out of being a fire fighter and still typed a thread with the 3rd degree burns. Wonder what caused it? Why you have starter fluid anyways? Zippo user? Wait a sec, you had flames coming out of your gas door And inside your hatch? And you happened to have that can of fluid. How random. So did the fire burn through your floorboard? I dont get how they came out the gas door and the inside of the hatch. Unless im just picturing it wrong from your explanation.

I was actually really glad spring break was out cause getting across the ferry takes like 4 1/2 hours during spring break and it only took me 15 min because I went the day after spring break. But yeah LOTS of fun down there during spring break been there done that got my share of tickets to prove it

Thanks, for all the support guys. I really do appricate it. I believe the cause of the fire was due to faulty factory fuel pump wires, I would suggest that everyone check their wires and make sure they look good. Here are afew pics of the car as well as my hand. I'm still looking for free parts if anyone wants to donate or offer before I go hit up the junk yard down the street that likes to Dick me over. $25 for the fuel pump harness, Like anyone else will ever buy one.....

Awhile... I'm going to ask more questions when I go back to the burn place for them to do my weekly scrubs, the first visit I was more or less wanting them to get shit done and get home

Well... hit up the junk yards around me and got all the pieces to fix the 240, my best friend being the nice guy he is is going to let me talk him through fixing everything tomorrow so we should be able to drive it again and get it inspected so my apt complex will leave me the fuck alone and quit thretening to tow the car for no inspection sticker, ass holes. Well spent $65 got some new wire harness hatch carpet and inserts and afew extras that I was wanting anyways.... So it was a good day at the yard. I saw a VLSD from a 95 SE sitting on the ground and asked the guy what he would take for it wants $200 they also have 2 J30's how much are these worth I don't want to over pay and I am only pushing about 275ish hp so I might not need it really, but advise on that would be good. Also if anyone needs any hard to find parts let me know there are at least 15 240's at the junkards like 5 miles from my apt.
