power seats question?

a little wile ago, my mother-in-law got a new grand caravan. it has power seats, the driver seat is 6 way adjustable, but the passanger seat is only 4 way adjustable, and can not be adjusted up and down.
I was looking at it the other day, and it seems to have everything needed to be adjustable up and down, except the the motor, switch, and the little screw things that the motor turns.
in place of the motor and adjusters, it has solid bars, which keep it from being raised or lowered (they look to be just screwed into position, and should be relatively easy to remove). myself and my father-in-law are both tall eanough that we hit our heads on the celing when setting in the passanger seat, and we were wandering if it would be possable to either get the nessisary parts to make the seat adjustable, or just make some diffirent size bars to let it sit lower?
thanks,
Keith

Keith,
I'm puzzled about the 4 way seat not being adjustable up and down. What you describe is only a 2 way seat.....forward and backward
It should go forward, backward, up and down. In addition, the six way tilts forward and backward.
There are many different power seat arrangements, but I don't remember any that would not travel up and down.
Could it be a bad seat switch?

A. Souphound,
the seat in question (front passanger side, in an 05 grand caravan) has power adjustability for the forward and backward movement, and for the seat back recline. there is no adjustability for up and down.
however, from looking at the drivers side seat, which is exactly the same, but also has power up and down, it looks like the passanger side seat has the needed bracketry to be able to move up and down.

lets see if I can explain this a little better.
on the drivers side, the motor that raises the seat is attatched to the seat frame in the middle, and has a threaded rod coming out of each end. when the motor is activated (to move the seat up or down) the motor spins those threaded rods, and they either push or pull a sleve that is attatched to a pivot that raises the seat. (well, it's not a great explination, but maybe you'll get the picture)

now, back to the passanger side.....
it has the same pivot points as the driver side, but instead of a motor and threaded rods, there are square bars that go from where the motor should be, to the pivot points that raise and lower the seat.

I'll look around and see if I can find any diagrams to explain it a little better.

O.K. and I'll try and find some info...too.
